    Just thought I’d point out that comfrey is not a nitrogen fixing plant.

    It is beloved by permaculturalists because (apart from it’s other hundreds of benefits – like animal fodder, medicinal plant, living mulch, compost activator etc) is that it is a great ‘dynamic’ or mineral accumulator.

    It’s deep roots will reach down and bring up nutrients from the subsoil where they can be made available to other plants and trees – especially potassium but also phosphorus, calcium, Copper, Iron, and Magnesium.
